FIRE BOARD FOR FOXTON.
POLL OF RATEPAYERS TO BE • ’ TAKEN.
At last night’s Council meeting/ after various letters from different /$. borough councils had been read, for the most part recommending Fire Board control, it was mdved by Cr. Martin, seconded by Cr. Smith, that the question of the formation of a Fire Board be put before the ratepayers, together with particulars thereon, and a poll be taken on the same. Cr Martin said that he had nothing to say. The letters received spoke for themselves. The Mayor said that the action of the Council had been fully warranted in holding the matter over until more information had been obtained. He intended to call a public meeting shortly before the poll, and lo give the ratepayers the informalion they had already gleaned. He was certain the poll would be carried ten to one.
The motion was unanimously carried.
