ELECTRIC POWER BOARD FINANCE.

A COMBINED LOAN PROPOSAL,

At a meeting-of the ManawatnOroua Electric Power Board, held at Palmerston yesterday, referring to Hie future finances of the Board, the chairman (Mr J. A. Nash) suggested that members should agree to a conference with delegates from the TTorowlicnua, Dannevirke and Rangif ikei Power Boards, concerning the making of a joint effort to go upon the London market with a combined loan proposal. This conference should consider setting up a deputation to approach the Prime Minister and the Minister of Public Works with the request that the Government give its assistance, in the matter. ( He was certain, said the speaker, that with Government hacking up, they would have no difficulty in getting money al 51 or 6 per cent. A joint loan of, say, £1,000,000 should he subscribed on most favourable terms. He moved accordingly that a conference he arranged to lake place in Palmerston North on March 27th. The motion was carried Messrs Nash, Vincent and Elliott being chosen as the Board’s representatives at the Conference.
