ROAD EVOLUTION.

SHOULD motor-driven vehicles be constructed to suit arterial roads, or roads made to conform to the changing conditions of locomotion? Ic is utterly absurd for governing authorities to complain against motor traffic. This form.of locomotion is fast superseding horse-drawn traffic on the highways, and the only logical way out is for the authorities to construct the roads to meet the new .condition. The lowering ,of railway freights will not drive motor traffic off the roads, nor lessen the cost of upkeep to governing authorities. A national scheme to deal with arterial roads is wanted.
