A clergyman who failed to appear at a wedding in Scnmpton Church Lincolnshire, was ultimately found busy in bis garden. After a long wait in the church the bridal party motored in search of (lie missing cleric, who confessed that ho had quite forgotten the wedding. The party arrived back in church just in time.

The inquiry concerned a young man named Reuben Cham, who shot himself through the heart with the gun. A novel reason for asking for a separation order from bis wife was given by a man at Kingston Police Court a few weeks ago. “My wife,” he said , “is an habitual smoker. She smokes froni morning till night, neglects her duties, and is always causing trouble.” Applicant was informed that the Court bad no jurisdiction, and the chairman added that the fact that Ihc woman was an habitual smoker would not help him.

Owing to the gales that arc preventing fishing off the English coast, prices of fish are soaring, and trawlers arriving from a distance with good catches are making large sums. Recently the Hull trawler Grand Fleet returned from the North Sea after an absence of a month, and landed 1,700 kits of plaice and 100 kits of other kinds. Her catch sold for a total of £8,327, which is a record price since the armistice, and leaves a profit of £7,000 on the voyage.

While cutting a large chestnut tree which stood near the cemetery in Nepaug Connecticut, G. W. Mason of that village, discovered a pint bottle filled with whisky. The bottle had worked down several feet from an opening above. The flask is said to have been placed in the cavity in the tree by Calvin Moranders of Nepaug, forty years ago. The liquor is now in possession of his son, Frederick, who will keep ii for use in an emergency.
