“OLD MOTHER HUBBARD.”

A SUCCESSFUL PANTOMINE.

There was a good and appreciate ive audience at .the Town Hall last night on the occasion of the visit of Stanley McKay’s Pantomine Company. The'Pantumine was produced; in a- style that sets a new standard; for companies in visiting Foxton. , Of course the mainstay of any pan-i to is the “dame” and as “Mother.; Hubbard” Mr'George Harpnr fairlyexcelled, his stock of jokes/catch phrases and smart local quips keeping the audience amused during the whole of the performance. The “Fairy Queen” in the hands of Miss Ethel Osborn, received sympathetic treatment, and her line lyric soprano voice soon established her a firm, favourite, and encores were fre-j quent. Miss Lulu Fanning made a, good principal boy, and was well supported by Miss Audrey Carlyle «s the girl. The novelty acts were: of a high order, and included Freddie White, the talking violinist, who dispensed a constant flow of humour while playing several very acceptable numbers on the violin. The Bertrams, Ruby and Bert, also gave a fine exhibition of the latest novelty dances,, and were very warmly received. Another effective spec-: tacle was an Egyptian grouping, the central dancer being Miss Laurie MacLeod, of Sydney, whose posing and posturing were singularly artistic. The chorus and ballet were a big contributing factor to the sue-: cess of the show, and what was lacking in numbers was easily made up in brightness, smart dressing and general high quality in the performers, concerned, The company anticipate a return visit at a later date.
