BURGLAR’S BIG HAUL.
MAORI ROBBED OF £1,500. Wanganui, Last Night. The police received news to-day that the whare of a Maori named Hautapa at Taringamotu, 14 miles from Taumarunui, had been entered and a safe broken into some time between Monday and Thursday. The -urn of £1,500 is alleged to have been stolen, the money including £123 in sovereigns, £4O in silver, and the balance in notes.
The residence of Mr J. W. Clevely, id - Bunnythorpe, was entered on -f* Thursday afternoon during the absence of the occupier and his family, and a sum of money extracted from a draw. Every' room was ransacked, cupboards and drawers being turned out and the contents turned over. The thief even broke open the children’s money boxes. The police have the matter in hand, but so far have made no arrests.
