FOXTON PATRIOTIC SOCIETY.
FUNDS TO BE MERGED IN WAR FUNDS COUNCIL. . A meeting of the local Patriotic Committee was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs W. E. Barber (chairman), J. Chrystall, Hornbiow, Burr, Huntley, McMurray, Thomson, Mesdaines F. Robinson and McMurray, Miss Sewell,; and the secretary (Mr Trueman). A grant of £25 was made in lieu of loan to one applicant, and one ap- ■ plication deferred. r Mr Davies, officer in charge of the War Funds Office, was in attendance, and explained the Act respecting the Society’s operations, which gave them the option of merging their funds in the Manawatu Society or War Funds Council. If in the latter, a local committee would still operate on the funds, and attend to local cases. After considerable discussion a motion was carried to the effect that provided the safeguards mentioned by Mr Davies were put in writing, the Society agrees to. transfer its funds to the War Funds Council. An amendment to hold the matter over for further discussion was lost.
