MR. FURRIE’S DEPARTURE.
At the local '.school on Friday afternoon, the scholars will bid farewell to Mr L. J. Furrie, who has resigned the headmastership to take up a similar position at the Stratford School, under the jurisdiction of the Taranaki Education Board: Mr Furrie is a “local hoy,” and started on his teaching career in Foxton, under the headmastership of the late Mr W. S. Stewart. By hard work and enthusiasm, Mr Furrie achieved well-deserved promotion, which has placed him on the top rung in the primary school division. During Mr Fnrrie’s headmastership of the local school he has had to battle against a good deal of misfortune, which made serious inroads on his health. Despite these obstacles, he maintained a high standard of efficiency, which entitles him to the best thanks of the community. His promotion is well earned, and the good wishes of the local public will follow him in his new sphere of labour. In conclusion we can assure the Stratford Committee that they are fortunate in obtaining the services of one so well qualified to supervise the moral, educational and physical well-being of their children.
