BOWLING.

A match for the Nye Ferns was played last evening, and proved a very close contest. Owing to the. shortening of the evenings, it was decided to play only 19 heads, but by strenuous play on the part of the holders, several heads Avere “killed,” and the game proceeded until after darkness had fallen, and the final heads were played by cande light. -- On the 18th head the scores stood 22 all, and when the skips went up the head was in favour of the holders. Ross, for the challengers, put in a “fast one,” and after the bowls bad come to rest a careful inspection by the aid of the cadle disclosed that the challengers were one up. A meeting of the Committee will be held in the Club pavilion at 6 o’clock this evening. The third round of the Triangular competition has been arranged for Wednesday of next week. A rink from Levin, skipped by Rankin, succeeded in wresting the Dixon Cup from the holders, Ekelahuna Club, on Saturday. The next match will be between Shannon and Levin, and on Saturday week Feilding will play the holders.
