FOXTON VOLUNTEER FIRE BRIGADE.
A special meeting of the local Fire Brigade was held on Tuesday night, for the purpose of discussing the formation of a lire board for Fox ton. There was a good attendance of members.
Captain Hamer read a report giving some results of tire board operations and control of brigades in various towns, also extracts from the Fire Brigades Act, 1908. The officers who visited the Levin Brigade recently gave a .brief resume of the demonstration, and the information re fire board matters supplied by Superintendent Shaw. A general discussion ensued as to the initial capital cost and probable annual expenditure of an efficient brigade under fire board control. A motion that in the opinion of this meeting it is desirable to form a tire board for the borough of Foxton, was carried unanimously. It was decided that Inspector Hugo (Government Inspector of Fire Brigades) be invited to visit Foxton to meet the fire brigade, and give advice in connection with the formation of a tire board. It was decided that a letter be sent to the Levin Brigade, thanking them warmly for their demonstration, and for information given re fire board.
A further meeting will be convened on receipt of a reply from Inspector Hugo.
