RIFLE SHOOTING
The last shoot for the Parkes and Retailers’ Association trophies was held last Saturday, at 000 yards. Conditions were unfavourable — strong light, a hot sun with a mirage, and a very tricky breeze and right drift which was hard to deline. Shooting was not up to average as a consequence. The linal rersults are as follows: -Winner* of Mrs Parkes’ trophy of £1 Is, N. E. Hughes, 03 (total for two shoots), 5 (total handicap taken). Winner of Retailers’ Association ’s 12s trophy, G. Cull, 93 —0. Winner of Retailers’ Association’s 8s trophy, H. Frankland, 93—13. Scores on Saturdav were as follows: GOO Yds. Hep. Total.
Next Saturday a shoot for the Claris Bowl will lie held, at 300 yds. range. The Central Military command rifle meeting will be held at Trentiiam on March 9th, 10th and 11th. The four' All-comers’ matches are open to all members of N.Z. military Forces and returned soldiers. Free railway warrants are obtainable. Entries close with Lieut. A. J. King, secretary, Command H.Q., Palmerston North, on 28th February. Programme may be seen in Mr Hughes’ window.
