BOWLING

A challenge match for the Nye Ferns was played on the local green last evening, between rinks skipped/. by D. Whibley (challengers) Christie (holders). The game was interesting throughout, the scores being even at two or three stages of the contest, but near the end the holders registered a five, which put them in the lead by a fairly safe margin. Owing to the unfavourable weather on Saturday last, the Dixon Cup match, Woodville v. Pahiatua, was postponed until this week. Fox- ' ton will meet the successful team on Wednesday of next week.
