SOUTHERN MAORI ELECTION
MR. H. W. URU ELECTED. Christchurch, Last Night. The election for the Southern Maori electorate, rendered vacant by the death of Mr \V. Uru, took place to-day and resulted as follows:
If. \Y. Uru (Government) .. 305 T. U. Erihana (Government) 250 U. T. Pirihama (Independent) 100 \Y. 1). Barrett. (Independent) 90 [The new member is the younger brother of the late member, and is aged forty-nine years. He has been for twenty years a Native land agent tit Auckland.]
