THE AMENDE HONOURABLE

MR, WRIGHT WITHDRAWS. Wellington, Tuesday. In the course of a personal explanation in the House of Representatives to-day, Mr R. A. Wright (Wellington Suburbs) said that a few evenings ago he had made a certain statement reflecting on the Assistant Public Service Commissioner. He had made the statement on what he believed to be the best of authority. - But since it had been questioned by the Premier and other members, he had made further inquiries, and now found that it had no foundation in fact. He therefore desired to withdraw the statement in question. [The statement in question was to the effect that certain members of the Public Service had been dismissed for religious reasons.]
