THE PIONEER ENTERTAINERS.

TOWN HALL, MONDAY NIGHT. The above company, which has met with splendid success throughout its tour, and received flattering press notices, appear in ths Town Hall on Monday night. The Greytown Standard says: —A bright and enjoyable entertainment was the general verdict of a fairly large audience at the Town Hall on "Wednesday night, when the Pioneer Entertainers —a happy band of Native performers—kept the audience amused for a couple of hours. The entertainment went with a swing, and was different to the previous Native performances given here. The quartettes by Messrs Baker, Hori, Toki and Nicholls were especially good —the rendering of “Annie Laurie” being re-demanded. Miss Olga Church has a beautiful voice, and her solo, “My Dear Soul,” was a treat to listen to—her enunciation being perfect. Her second number, “The Old Fashioned House,” was equally as good. An old favourite, Mr Nolio Toki, received double encores for his rendering of “When You are There',” and “My Beloved.” His voice has lost none of its sweetness —in fact, has improved. Mr S. Baker gave a splendid rendering of

“When You Come Home,” and Miss Hakaraia and Mr Nicholls’ singing of “Just a Little Smile” was deservedly recalled. The musical items on the banjos and ukuleles ■were good, also the choruses by the whole company. Mr Hori brought down the house with his imitation of a trombone solo, and the comic sketches by Messrs Jack Ellers and Buller kept the audience in a simmer of laughter. Mr D. Nicholls merited encores for his two songs, his best offering being, “Home, Little Maori Maid, Home.” Messrs Hijri and Jacob on “Mr Booze,” were good, and the quartette by Messrs Nicholls, Patuaka, Baker and Hori was a gem. The comic duets were well received.
