METHODIST CHURCH.

VALEDICTORY SOCIAL AND A pleasant social was held in the social hall on Monday night, when a number of members and friends gathered to bid Mr and Mrs A. Kennerley farewell. The greater part of the evening was spent in games and a competition, which was won by Mrs Thornber. Miss Chalk rendered a solo. The ladies provided supper. Air L. Bullard, in the absence of the officials, presented Air Kennerley, on behalf of the congregation, with a handsome rose bowl. He made mentoin of the good services Air and Airs Kennerley had rendered to the church since they' first came to the district. Air H. Osborne, on behalf of the choir, then presented a silver-mounted biscuit barrel to the guests. In doing so, Air Osborne said that Mr and Airs Kennerley had been' valued members of the choir, and they were very sorry to lose them. The choir had done good work, and it was the stamp of members like Air and Airs Kennerley that kept it going. Air Kennerley, in responding, said that they had made many friends in the church, and had been very happy during their stay in Foxton, They would have many regrets iu leaving it. He thanked the friends for their* gifts, and said it had been a pleasure to help in any w,ay. Air A. G. Huntley thanked them for the help they had given at the Sunday School Anniversaries. Mrs Kennerley also helped considerably-in training the children for the concert, Miss Henry thanked Airs Kennerley, on behalf of the Guild, for assistance at bazaars and Guild afternoons. The evening was suitably closed by the singing of “Auld Lang Syne” and “For They are Jolly Good Fellows.”
