FOXTON borough is included in the Ilorow'henua Electric Power district, and is entitled to one representative on the Board, and tin' outdisIrict adjacent to the borough to one representative. An election will lake place on tlie Blh of February,' and noniinations -will close on Fehiviarv Ist. The Mayor (Mr Cliryslall) represented Eoxlon on the Commit lee set up to lake the preliminary steps to have the Board < oiislituled, and we suggest that he convene a public meeting to discuss and enlighten the ratepayers and probable users of what has taken place, and the future policy of the Board. The introduction of electric power into this district is of vital importance to those engaged in the various industries, and has an important bearing on Fox ton’s future prosperity. It is, therefore, essential to arouse local interest before the election of representatives lakes place, so that Foxton will be ready to tap the current immediately it is turned on. Another important point is to select two men well <nullified to watch local and district interests. In other parts to be served.by the Mangahao hydroelectric scheme, meetings have been held to this end, and it is time Foxton got a move on.
