MANAWATU RACES.
THE CONCLUDING DAY. The Manawatu Racing Club’s summer meeting concluded in fine weather 'on Thursday, the attend--1 nnce being very large. The Liverpool Handicap, the big event of the day, fell to, Mr D. O’Reilly’s wellknown performer, Nursing Sister, who was thh outsider of a fine field. Nursing Sister also accounted for the Kawau Handicap, the open sis furlongs, in which she defeated the much-fancied Celmisia.Supporters of the favourites had a bad day, only two “first fancies” winning during the day. The sum of £46,264 was put through the totalise tor, against £04,252 for the third day last year, a decrease of £17,988. For the three days £150,622 was handled, last year’s figures being £198,056. The decrease on the meeting, compared with last year, was £41,434. Details of the concluding races are as follows: — Liverpool Handicap.— Nursing Sister 1, Sycorax 2, Askari 3. Won by four lengths. Time, .43 1-5. West bury Handicap. — Passion- . less 1, Deucalion 2, Doucement 3. VWon by a neck. Time, 1.1 2-5. Clandeboye Handicap. — Calla'ghan 1, Printemps 2, Detroit 3. Won by three-quarters of a neck. Time, 1.44. Christmas Welter. —Kuia 1, Rediogue 2, Ania 3. Won by half a length. Time, 1.28 4-5. Kawau. Handicap.—Nursing Sister 1, Celmisia 2, Jovial 3. Won by three-quarters of a length. Time., 1.14 2-5,
