ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES

The police .have been advised that Reuben Smith, labourer, aged 20, was found dead at Becks with his throat cut and a blood-stained razor at his side.

Herbert Edward Motershaw, aged eight years, while attempting to mount a lorry, fell and a wheel passed over his head and killed him instantly. A Maori boy named ITiknruti was drowned while bathing at Ngdruawahia.
Samuel Scott, an old ago pensioner, was found dead outside his where at Mangamutu (Palliatua), on Tuesday afternoon. lie is believed to have died from heart failure. Deceased was 78 years of age, and had no relatives in the Dominion. He had been over 30 years in the district.
Mr William Nicholson, of Waiiotara, was killed on Saturday last through a motor lorry overturning. The Wanganui police have been advised that a married man, Mr .1. 11. Reardon, aged 30, was burned to death at Waverley. If appears that Mr Reardon was at home by himself, his wife and family being nway. The house was discovered in flames, and later the shocking discovery was made that Mr Reardon had not effected an escape. At Wanganui on Saturday evening, Mr George Rabone fell from a tramear, and died from injuries sustained. Mr Rabone was a wellknown and respected resident ol Wanganui for several years, and was also well known in Napier and Woodville in the early days.
Whilst cycling in Kilbirnie, Wellington, on Christmas Eve, a telegraph messenger named E. H. Foster collided with a telegraph pole, and received injuries from which he died while being conveyed to the hospital.
