SPLENDID LOCAL DISPLAYS.
Our representative made a tour of the local business premises yesterday, and an inspection of the stocks, despite the financial pressure, indicated that Foxton business. men have an optimistic outlook, and their prices without exception proved beyond the shadow of a doubt that it pays to shop in the home town, So far business has been brisk, and special provision is made, for heavy shopping today, and staffs have been increased to cope with the Christmas rush.

Here is displayed prime hams, dried fruits, biscuits, cordials, and a wide assortment of high-class groceries. The staff were busily employed in making up town and country orders. “Don’t forget to mention that prime butter will be down to Is 7d,” was a parting remark.
11. F. GABITES’ is well stocked with snappy bargains for cash in ladies’, maids’ and children’s drapery. Lots of little fancy lines in handkerchiefs, ties, etc., etc., at prices which defy competition.

Chemist and Druggist, was in the midst of unpacking a late arrival of perfumes and toilet requisites. The show cases were stocked with a variety of articles which should commend themselves to shoppers.

There is now a very handsome display of holiday wearables for men and women, inexpensive and simple—or the most elaborate —just to. your taste; and the wonderful assortment of beautiful gift articles far surpasses anything ever seen in Foxton before. Our advice is, shop early in the day, and aim straight for Barr and Tver’s.

grocers and ironmongers, have just opened up special lines to meet the requirements of the thrifty housewife. Heavy stocks of high-class groceries, glassware and crockery, bams, assorted confectionery, are on sale at cut prices. Inspection of special seasonable lines should bo made at this establishment. C. This well-known drapery establishment was in the throes of a big sale, and (lie manager had no time to discuss matters with our representative. “We are up to our eyes in if,” was his curt remark. Have a look round. We made an attempt to do so, but a discript ion of the goods “marked down to bedrock” in all departments beggars description. Tin l object of flic big sale is to effect a clearance before restocking the new premises. ADMORE’S window is specially attractive, with coloured prints suitable for adorning the home, and those of artistic, taste may have all their wants supplied.

the well-known bakery and pastry cook's establishment is attractively arranged with enticing Christmas cakes, iced to perfection, and suitably worded, side by side with other examples of the pastry-cook’s art, and the adjoining shelves are loaded with all the delicacies imported from the leading confectioners and sweets manufacturers. The tearooms, too, are specially arranged to cope with a rush of visitors for afternoon tea and supper.

chemist shop contains many useful lines suitable for Christmas gifts, including cameras, perfumery, cut glass toiletware, etc.

Special provision has been made to meet; the demands of Christmas shopping, the staff having been increased, and a large and varied stock imported. The youngsters reckon their pennies go further here in value than anywhere else. And as for the ice-ereams and cordials, don’t take our word for it, but sample them for yourselves. general grocers and provision merchants, is an establishment whgre one can purchase anything from the proverbial needle to an anchor, and at prices which, have been specially reduced for the festive season. The staff has been kept particularly busy to cope with Christmas orders from town and country customers. To attempt to describe the goods would be a waste of time, as the emporium is well-known to the local purchasing public. DIGGERS’ FRUIT SUPPLY.
Mr Syd. Dudson lias made provision to supply the needs of all in the way of seasonable fruit. Choice boxes of confectionery for presentation purposes are in great variety.
