PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE.
A meeting of the above was held on Tuesday night. Present : Messrs W. E. Barber (chairman), Hornblow, Chrystall, G. Huntley, McMurray, Mesdames F. Robinson, McMurray, Miss Sewell, aud (he secretary (Mr Trueman). A grant of £ls wall made to an applicant for relief. A lengthy discussion took place in re the ijroposal to transfer the funds to the Man awn t u incorporated society, or the War Funds Council. The opinion of the Committee was that a distribution of portion of the funds should be made on the lines adopted by Ihe Mnnnwatu Society if it was compulsory to transfer the fnnds. It was decided to ascertain definitely from the Minister of Internal Affairs whether the transfer of the funds was mandatory, and future action would depend upon the reply received. The Secretary read a full report of his investigations into the Palmerston and Horowhenua Societies’ schemes.
