MANAWATU (FOXTON) RACE COURSE TRUSTEES.

STATUTORY PUBLIC MEETING,

The annual statutory public meeting of the Manawatu (Foxton) Racecourse, Trustees was held in (lie Town Hall supper-room yesterday afternoon. Mr J. Kebbell (chairman) presided, and there were also present Messrs F. Robinson (trustee), W. E. Barber, Alf. Fraser. Geo. and 11. Coley, W. T. Jewell, itnd L. R. Freeman. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

The Chairman submitted the following report, which was unanimously adopted: —“The Trustees have the honour to report that the balance at the P.O. Savings Bank amount's lo £37 2s Bd, which, with the rent for the present year, less expenses, will increase it to £4(5 2s Bd. The relations between the Racing Club and Trtisiees have been most cordial. The Trustees visited the course and stables, and found everything in good order. A lot of new fencing is being done, and will be completed before next race meeting. During the next year the Club proposes to widen the course at the straight lo a chain, the remainder is now a chain wide. There has also been 900 yards of soil laid on the course proper. The Trustees congratulates the Club on the great improvement made and in prospect.”

The Chairman said the balance to credit would be handed to the Club, to be expended on some specific object. The Club could make up its mind in this connection and communicate with thojdrustees.

Mr Jewell suggested that the money should form the ncueleus for the erection of a band rotunda. The Chairman said the Club could discuss the matter. He suggested tree planting.

It was pointed out that the Club had already planted (500 trees this

year. The usual vote of thanks concluded the meeting.
