REPATRIATION COMMITTEES.
CENTRALISING SCHEME
Now that the repatriation scheme has been successfully launched and is in full working order, and its continuance is now only a matter of routine, the Repatriation Department feels that there is no longer any necessity for local committees, and these are being disbanded. In accordance with this decision the Foxton Committee has received the following letter from the District Repatriation Officer: “I have to inform you that it has been decided to. discontinue the Department's local office as from December 31st, 1921. The Department desires me to express appreciation of the work you have done, and trusts that if in the future we should require advice on any matters in your district that we may have the privilege of writing to you. Please note that no applications for assistance will be received after June 30th, 1922. In the meantime, applicants can apply to Napier, Palmerston North, Gisborne, Masterton, Wanganui, New Plymouth, Nelson or Blenheim, which ever is the nearest centre.”
