KENNEDY ASHORE
DRIVEN ON TO NORTH BEACH
EXTENT OF-DAMAGE NOT YET
ASCERTAINED,
The s.s. Kennedy, with a general cargo, including 1,500 cases of oil, from Wellington, while endeavouring to make the bar inwards this morning against a stiff southerly breeze, was driven on to the north beach about half a mile from the river mouth.
The extent of damage has not yet been ascertained.
Mr Signal proceeded to the vessel this afternoon, and will take the necessary steps to safeguard the vessel prior to attempts being made to refloat her.
No further particulars are to hand at the time of going to press.
