TENNIS NOTES.
The teams to play Longburn on Saturday next are: —
"A.” —Men: C. Bryant, E. Jackson, R. Shaw, A. Brophy, D. Robinson, W. Ross. Ladies: Mrs McMurray, Misses McMurray, McCormick, G. Robinson, Mrs Moore and Miss I. Robinson.
“B.” —S. McDonnell, C. Francis, K. Hirini, C. Procter, R. McMurray, J. McKnight. Ladies: Misses Beard, K. Barber, I. Austin, S. Bai*ber, .R Barber, G. Neylon. Any players unable to play are requested to notify the. secretary immediately.
GENERAL MEETING
A special general meeting was held in All Saints’ schoolroom last night, Mr McMurray occupying the chair. The following new members were proposed and elected: —Dr. Wyllie, Dr. Rowley, and Messrs Leonard and Thorp. The Secretary was instructed to write to Air R. Bryant and the Secretary of the R.S.A. Ball, thanking them for their donation of £1 Is each for trophies. It was proposed by Mr Shaw that the £2 2s be alloted to the “B” grade players, handicaps and rules to he the same as for Robinson Ferns.
A sub-committee consisting of Alessrs Arc Donnell, Frankland, and Misses Macltie, Beard and. Neylon was formed for the purpose of considering the question of buying suitable trophies, and giving them suitable names.
Air McMurray proposed that the existing rules regarding the Robinson Ferns he rescinded, and that “A” players only compete for them, subject to All-Robinson’s approval. The Secretary was instructed to write Mr AValton, thanking him for his generosiiy in presenting a rose howl for competition among members. The following are the conditions pertaining to this trophy: — That if he played for under the same rules as the Wilford Cup, and that it becomes the property of any member who retains it three years in succession, or three times in five consecutive vears.
Mrs Moore proposed that a combined doubles handicap he played on the courts during the season. Entrance fee to be Is. Trophy not decided. Vacancies on the Committee occasioned by the departure of Aliss Hawke and Air AI. Alandl were filled by Aliss Neylon and Air AY. Ross. Air Shaw proposed that endeavours lie made to move to Easton Park, subject to satisfactory arrangements being made with the Council. Owing to the large membership of the Club if is thought advisable to secure a larger number of courts, if possible, for next sensed. A sub-committee consisting of Alessrs Shaw, Brophy, McDonnell and McMurray was set up to go into the matter.
A meeting of the Sub-committee set up for the purpose of considering the question of allocating suitable trophies for the “B” grade players will he held at the Secretary’s residence to-night, at 8 o'clock.
A meeting of the Sub-committee set up for the purpose of considering the question of removing to Easton Park will be held at the Secretary’s residence on Friday
evening, at 8 p.m. Entry forms for I lie Wellington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association’s Tournament, to he held on the Linton Street Courts, Palmerston 1922, may he had from the SeereN., .on January 2nd, 3rd and 4111, tarv. Entries close on 20th inst.
