VICE-REGAL VISIT.
A special meeting of the local School Committee was held last night to confirm the arrangements made in reference to the visit of the Governor-General and Viscountess Jellicoe to the school on Monday next. A flag-pole will be erected on the front lawn, from which will be flown a signal of welcome. The programme, as outlined in our last issue, will be carried out. The public will be admitted outside the school formation, and should assemble before the Vice-regal party arrive. Mrs McMurray has consented to make the bouquet and buttonhole to be presented to the Viscountess Jellicoe and the GovernorGeneral. Little Miss Madge McColl will present the bouquet, and Miss Katie Jtoore the buttonhole. Parents and the public are requested hot to enter the school building during the visit of inspection by the Vice-regal party.
It has been suggested that the Governor-General should be met at the entrance to the borough by residents in motor cars, etc., and escorted to the reception stand in Main Street. No doubt (he reception Committee will take this matter in hand without, delay.
Local business people are making arrangements to decorate the front portions of their premises with bunting, etc. A line of bunting will be stretched across the main thoroughfare.
All business places will be closed from 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. It is hoped that sufficient musicians will assemble to enliven the reception arrangements.
