RETURNED SOLDIERS’ BALL.

Lovers of dancing will he afforded an opportunity to-morrow night of participating in one of the most altractive functions yet held in lliis town. The dance arranged under the auspices of the returned soldiers will he held in the Town Hall, in connection with which special preparations are being carried out today and to-morrow for the reception of a record number of dancers. It is anticipated that a large number of visitors will he present from neighbouring towns, including Palmerston North, some 150 invitations having been distributed to lovers of the light fantastic outside Foxton. Local dancers should specially nolc that,no invitations were issued in our own town, and the function is open to all members of the public, the prices of admission for dancers being gents ss, ladies 3s. The catering arrangements are in the capable hands of Mr John Walls, who enjoys an enviable reputation for this work. One of the special features of the hall will he the presence of Larkins’ full jazz orchestra, comprising among other capable musicians an accomplished trombone player, and a kettle-drum player who is also very good in manipulating the various incidental noises associated with the jazz effect. For non-dancers provision will be s made for them to visit the function by providing seating accommodation in the dress circle, where they can enjoy the music and view the gay throng for the admission price of Is. An added attraction will be the presence of the Pioneers Maori Party, who will provide music for the extras, and contribute vocal items.
