ROYAL PICTURES.

“Patricia Brent, Spinster,” screening at the Royal to-night, is adapted from the most popular book written during the war. , It is wellnigh impossible to reproduce in a summary the peculiar charm which made this story famous. It concerns the career of a good-looking, intelligent, young lady who endured life in a Bloomsbury boardinghouse. They taunt her for not; having a fiancee, and she invents one. The incidents which follow provide an entertainment, of a high standard. The Pioneers will also give a programme of musical and instrumental items, featuring one performer known as the human trombone.

A secret marriage, a maiden aunt, a, stern judge, the two latter being leaders of the prohibition movement, a bevy of chorus girls, a musical comedy star, who takes refuge from a storm in the young husband’s apartments and has to be explained away afterwards, all these are component parts of a breezy comedy with a real all-star cast, at the Royal to-morrow night, entitled “Oh, Boy!” adapted from the successful musical comedy. As an extra, “The Branded Four” will be shown.

Saturday’s programme will include “The Mysterious Miss Lisle,” a Snooker comedy, “The Big Show,” and the first episode of a new serial, “The Fatal Sign.”
