DISSECTION (')P LATEST RETURNS. DECREASE ON THE PREVIOUS YEAR. The sheep returns for New Zealand for the year ended April 30lh, 1021, lmve just been issued. They show that the total for the Dominion for the past year was 23,285,031, as against 23,010,970 for 1020, a decrease of (134,93 1 . Ot these there were 12,774,323 in the North Island, and 10,5.10,708 in the South Island. In the Wellington and West Coast district there were 5,104,061 in .1921, against 5,381,892 in 1020. The various breeds were distributed as follows:
Merinos 782,210 Lincolns 208,139 Romneys 2,507,457 Border Leicester's 129,158 English Leicesters .... 100,412 Shropshire Downs .... 13,419 Southdowns 13,419 Southdowns 37,844 Corriedales 500,052 Halfhreds 1,110,0/2 Other breeds 8,801 Crossbred and others, n.o.e 17,428,252 Total 23,285,031
