“WILFULLY SET ON FIRE.”
MAGISTRATE INQUIRES INTO HA MI ETON OUTB REAR.
Hamilton, Nov. 10
Recently lire partly destroyed the premises of Parnett, Allott, and Fee, grocers, and, owing to the discovery of fool prints and kerosene tins, it was considered that the circumstances were suspicious.
An inquiry was held yesterday, after which a verdict was returned bv the Magistrate as follows: “The only conclusion, reasonably to be drawn from the evidence is that the premises were wilfully set on lire, and this conclusion causes suspicion to be cast on the occupiers, and their evidence does not remove this suspicion, in respect to two of them at least. I cannot, however, find that any particular person or persons caused the fire, so I find that the cause of the fire was the wilful and unlawful act of some person unknown.”
