Lewis McKenzie, a young man whose home was in Birmingham, left his holiday headquarters on the shore of Soniston Lake to explorethe mountains of the district, and has not since been .seen. He told' his hosts at the cottage that he intended to travel either to Wastwaer or Haweswater, and in ignorance of the nature of the country, took his bicycle with him. If he took the road from Coniston to Wastwater his path, it is pointed out, lay across some of the most dangerous passes in England. Heavy mists have descended on the mountains, and search parties who climbed all the precipitous'mountain paths of the neighbourhood, have found no trace of McKenzie.
