SUPPORT YOUR TOWN.

The following pledge should be read by a large number of Foxton residents who are in the habit of sending away for goods that can be bought locally. It is of American origin, and is entitled (he “Buy-at-Home Pledge,” but it is just as applicable to this part of the world:

I believe tin my town, and I buy goods sold in my town — Because I get the best value; Because I want to see the goods before I buy.

Because, if I sell my goods here I ought to buy here.

Because the man I buy from pays his rates and taxes in the town; Because every pound I spend loecally benefits the town I live in. Because my tradesman carries me when I run short, and city dealers will not; BecaVtse the town which is good enough for me to earn my money in fe goo'd enough for me to spend my money in.

Because every pound I spend at home, stays at home, and helps to build up the town; Because when ill-luck comes, or misfortune-or bereavement overtakes me, the man I tra'cle with is here with his kindly greetings, his word of cheer or sympathy, and his purse, if necessary. Therefore my pledge is:—“Here I spend my earnings. I believe in buying at home.
