EX-SERVICE MEN

The work of settling ex-Service men on the land is proceeding apace all over the. country (says the Daily Mail of September ,10th). Down to the end of June 48,692 had applied for holdings in England and "Wales, comprising a total of 832,042 acres. Of these 10,344 had withdrawn; 4,751 applicants were awaiting interview or standing over; and 14,858 had been approved after interview but had not yet been provided with holdings. A total of 14,397 ex-Service and civilian applicants had been provided with holdings since December 18th, 1918 (including men provided for the first time with holdings, on land acquired before that date.)
