A team of six ladies and six gentlemen journeyed from Bulls yesterday to play the local Club a friendly match, which resulted in a decisive win for Bulls, who were in (he opinion of the local team, good sports and good players. At the conclusion of the match, Mr McMurray, speaking on behalf of the local team, thanked the visitors for their kindness in travelling to Foxton, and said “by way of return, (lie local team will journey to Bulls on Labour Day (Monday), to bring home the Newman Cup.” In conclusion, he called on the local members to give three cheers for Bulls. In replying, Mr Flower, president of the Bulls Club, thanked the local members for their hospitality, both in the way of good games and a splendid afternoon tea. Although he could not say he would like Foxton to take home the Newman Cup, lie would rather see them have it than any olhey club in the district, as he always felt that in coming to Foxton he and his team were assured of a splendid time. All the members of the Club are invited to journey to Bulls on Monday next (Labour Day). Members desirous of going are requested to place their names on a sheet provided for the purpose in the pavilion not later than Saturday next. Every member who can is requested to go, and are requested to assemble at the courts not later than 9.30 a.in. on Monday morning, where all car arrangements will be made by the Committee. During the day the local team will try and wrest the Newman Cup from Bulls. One court will be set aside for local members not in the team, so everyone ('an he assured of a good lime. In the evening a dance will he held in honour of the visitors. As this is a very attractive programme, every member who has "a chance should make the journey. The learn are requested to practice together as much as possible before next Monday.
