BENEFIT CONCERT
This evening Messrs Hamer and son, Royal Theatre, are giving a benefit picture entertainment, the whole of the proceeds of which will be devoted to the funds of the local Fire Brigade. This is a very deserving object, and it is anticipated that there will be a large attendance. The star item of the programme has been well selected, being a fine production released by the British and Continental Feature Film Co., “The Divine Gift.” In unfolding this great snbject, Ihe producer goes back to the age in which primeval men fought for the possession of their women, piul portrays events in history throughout the succeeding years, which illustrate the power that gifted have wielded throughout the centuries. The Greatest Gift is revealed in a striking incident of -modern times, in the story of a young man and a young woman who loved, but were kept apart by ci'iiel circumstances. In due course they reap happiness is their reward, but in 191(3 the young husband makes the supreme sacrifice, and it is this great example which provides a pathetic conclusion to a wonderful picture.
