BOARD OF TRADE TO INQUIRE,
In the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr 11. Poland (Oliinemuri) brought up the matter of the relative prices of pork and bacon, asking if the Board of Trade would make inquiries. The retail price of bacon in Auckland was Is 8d a lb. Dr. Thacker: Scandalous! Mr Poland went on to say that the meat companies paid only 0d a 11). for pork some months ago, and now only 7d, although in the meantime (ho price of bacon had gone up. The Hon. E. P. Lee: The lion member,must not make a speech.
The Speaker drew Mr Poland’s attention to the rules, and Dr. Thacker called across the House: “The lion, the Minister should go to a health resort.”
The Hon. E. P. Lee said he would iisk the Board of Trade to. make an immediate inquiry into the matter.
