AUCKLAND TO WELLINGTON.
THE FIRST FLIGHT,
400 MILES IN 5 HOURS 0 MINUTES.

The first Auckland to Wellington iliglit was accomplished to-day, when Mr Leo. Walsh (managing director of the New Zealand Flying School, Auckland), R. Johnson (works manager) and G. Bolt (pilot) landed safely on the harbour. Great interest was taken in tho Iliglit as the machine came over the mountains and , Hew gracefully to llie harbour. Cheers were given for the visitors, who were congratulated on the success that had attended their journey. The machine is a super-marine Hying boat of 230 horse-power. It left Auckland at 7 a.m. to-day, landed at Kawhia at *3.15 for fuel; left Kawhia at 8.45; arrived at Wanganui at 11.15; left Wanganui 1.45 p.m.; arrived Wellington 3.8 p.m. The total distance was 400 miles, which was covered in live hours six minutes. This is the longest distance ever llown in New Zealand.
