RIFLE SHOOTING
The Foxton Defence Rifle Club commenced their shooting season on Saturday last, when a. match between teams chosen by the President and a Vice-president, respectively was fired at 200 yards, the latter team winning easily. The sky was overcast, and light dull, and although there was a strong westerly wind, several good- scores were made. Air N. E. Hughes, a new member, made the remarkably good score of 45, using the Barnard patented aperture sight, which speaks volumes for the efficiency of this new sight. Air N. Robinson’s 44 was made through the same sight. Other scores were as follows: —
Vice-president’s team. —H. FrankJand 48, H. Hamer 40, 11. JVTcKegney 45, A. Barnard 45, N. Robinson 44; 'total, 274. Average, one man, 40. President’s team.—N. E. Hughes 15, C. Barnard 44, S. Barber 43, S. Head 42, \Y. Symons 41, G. Cull 30; total, 251. Next Saturday’s shoot will be announced next issue.
