PLAGUE PRECAUTIONS
Wellington, Sept. 25,
Precautionary measures are being taken in view of the outbreak of plague in Australia. The Ulimaroa, from Sydney, remained in the stream till this morning, when she was berthed to discharge cargo. Rat traps have been set on board, and two rats caught have been sent to the bacteriologist for examination. This evening at live, and every, evening while she is in port, the vessel will go into the stream till next morning. Extra measures are being taken to prevent the passage of rats from the ship to the shore.
