FOXTON BOWLING CLUB.
ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The.annual general meeting of-the above club was held in All Saints’ schoolroom on Thursday evening, and was presided over by Mr R. Bryant (vice-president), in the absence of the president, Dr. Mandl. Apologies for absence were received from Dr. Mandl and Messrs L. G. Mercer, Freeman, Furrie and the Rev. Walton.
The annual report and balancesheet were read and adopted after some discussion in reference to the valuation of the Club’s interest in the property. Some members contended that 10 per cent, should be written off the property account annually, while others were in favour of adding as much again per annum to the. value of same. The election of officers for the ensuing year was then proceeded with, and the following elected: —President, Mr R. Bryant; vice-presidents, Messrs Jno. Ross, Christie, Pearson; committee, Messrs A. N. Smith, E. Huntley, W. 11. Walton, and Parkin. Mr D. Whibley was elected green superintendent and mcml>ei®>f the committee. Delegates to Centre: Messrs W. Nye and Admore. Secretary and Treasurer: Mr Rowe Rangiheuea; auditor, Mr S. 11. Poole.
The recommendation of the outgoing, committee as contained in tho annual report conferring life membership on Messrs J. P. Smith and D. Whibley, in recognition of services rendered, was adopted. The Secretary was granted an honorarium of two guineas. * Messrs Follns and Melvcr wero elected members. The following resignations were received: —Messrs L. G. Mercer, J. H. Reid, P. J. Jack, S. Austin, and J. N. Rider. A vote of thanks urns unanimously passed to. the retiring president (Dr. C. L. Mandl). The meeting regretted its inability to honour the retiring president with the office for the 3rd season.
Thanks was also accorded to the retiring green superintendent (Mr W. Nye), who had given a great deal of his valuable time to the work and supervision of the.green. The revision»of the Club’s new rules was left in Mr F. D. Whibley’s hands, and the incoming committee was instructed to call a special general meeting to adopt same as soon as they are ready. The usual vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. After the general meeting rose, the Management Committee met to discuss the question of engaging a caretaker. The meeting decided to leave the matter in the hands of the President and Secretary. The question of raking ajid giving the green a light top-dressing was deferred sine die.
