Conscientious objectors, numbering 89, who during the war performed work of national importance outside the post office, have been reinstated in the British Post, Office service.
Two horses drawing a harrow, on a farm at Levant, near Chichester, were killed by lightning, and Luke Hayler, who was leading them, was injured by his clothes catching fire. The Bishop of London is being challenged to substantiate a statement made at Lincoln that he knows of a Midland firm employing 1,500 hands, all of whom are teetotallers.
