Regulations have been issued to provide that in telephone exchanges which are not open continuously the Minister of Telegraphs may, at approved exchanges, agree to a group of two or more lines being joined together at the switchboard to provide means of communication outside the ordinary hours of exchange attendance. The groups are not to exceed 10 where the group comprises single lines wholly, or 14 subscribers when party lines are included. Special arrangements may also bu made for connecting a subscriber temporarily in case of sickness with a doctor's telephone. Special codecalls will be allotted for group communications.
