• The first shop day, held on Saturday, netted £27 17s. This sum ineluded £5 sale of coW, the gift of Mr Brown. The shop was in charge of Mesdames Pearson, Heasman, Symons, Procter, and Alisk. Hawke, and they desire to thank all who d forwarded gifts and donations, and Mr Hunt- for loan of timber. The competition winners were N. Richardson (dinner), Mr King (sheep, fffilbs.), Mrs A. Baker (canary), Miss a Xeylon (camisole},, Air 11. Berry (d'oyleys), Miss Elsie Barber (cake), Mrs Aland! (chocolates). The final shop day, to be held next Saturday, will be in ehVirge of Airs Green, Alisses. Robinson (2), Barber (2), Meylon (2), and Hawke. Gifts of live and dead stock, produce, cakes, • - weeis, preserves, etc., will be • thankfully .received. The Committee hope to make the shop day a re-
cord financial success. The sale of badges is going on well. There are still a number unsold, and those mjiy be obtained from any of the Flying Squadron. Those who have sold but can obtaiu fresh supplies from Aliss Sowell, at the “Herald" Office, The effort to raise ihe £IO,OOO throughout the Palmerston Hospital
district closes within a fortnight. The northern part of our own district is well on towards its objective. RaiJgiotu, Rongotea, Sandon, Bulls nd Awalmri have beeu working famously, and it is pleasing to snow that they are meeting with -plendid success'. Poston's Plying Squadron are keeping things movng, and are determined that our \ical quota will reach ihe objective
•limed at. Moutoa is going to swell the fund next Friday night with a -oeial in Ihe school. Airs Davey is the organiser in that quarter, and the tickets are going off like lioi rakes.
Airs Green is looking after Alaroiiri, and her efforts will he demonstrated tit nest Saturday's shop dav.
Headquarters have offered to end a big concert parly to Fox ton to boost the local fund. AH Purcell has donated a sheep for next Saturday’s shop day. Some of Ihe ladies favour a euchre party and dance instead of a concert. This point will be settled at an early date.
