CORRESPONDENCE.
(To tbe Editor.)
Sir. —I was pleased to see in the ‘ Herald” an explanation about the establishment of a St. Helen’s Hospital at Palmerston N. I must confess that I, -too, thought- that the effort was a Palmerston affair, but now I know differently, and will he pleased to d'o what little I can to help to raise Foxton s share, and I wish you and all who are takingpart every success. —I am, etc..
ENLIGHTENED. [WE regret to-know that there has been any 'misconception in tbe minds of certain people in reference to tbe establishment or a St. Helen’s Hospital at Palmerston for the hospital district, as we have on several occasions dealt fully with the subject, We repeat that Palmerston is the most central position for the institution, that the Palmerston public should not he asked or expected to shoulder the responsibility of raising the money for the site and building, which is a hospital district affair. To dodge our share of responsibility and partake of the benefits of such an institution would he immoral, and we believe the public will view the matter in this light. We must nor allow parochialism or prejudice to withhold our whole-hearted support. in such a worthy and humanitarian effort, and we have every reason to believe that Foxton and district will not be ashamed of the part it has played in raising its fair quota.—Ed.H.]
