HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER BOARD.
The Mayor (Mr John Chrystall) •.trended a meeting of the provisional Board of the Horowhenua Electric Power Board, aj: Levin this morning. It was decided that the necessary petition for signatures lie submitted to ratepayers. The question of the appointment of an agent, for the whole power board district was discussed, and it was filially decided that each representative be responsible for obtaining the necessary signatures within his iwn particular district. The Mayor informs us that the Minister had pointed our that the whole initial •ost, such as overhead charges, principal and interest, will be paid iiu of loan. Particulars were submitted, by the .-ecretary, Mr Goldsmith, at this morning's meeting in substantiation ••r! this. From 71 power boards and controlling authorities throughout* ii'.e Dominion, in no instance had it been found necessary to collect any, rate. The Mayor desired to empha--ise this point, that the scheme
would be self-supporting, the price ••barged for current being sufficient to meet all requirements.
