WHERE EVERYBODY WORKS.
CZECHOSLOVAKIA BECOME?
PROSPEROUS
An optimistic view concerning the revival of trade and the restoration of Central Europe was expressed by Dr. Belies, the Foreign Minister of Czecho-Slovakia, in an interview with the London Daily Chronicle representative. “An impression exists over here," said Dr. Benes, “that we are in a state of anarchy and confusion. I
can assure you that it is not so. \\ o are settling down to work, and everyone is doing his best to build up the new State. “Since the war we have made remarkable progress. Our supply of food has reached the normal, and our industries are all running smoothly. Our people have a high standard of education; the proportion of illiterates in Bohemia and Moravia is only half per cent, of the population, and in Slovakia IK “In our own country, Jugo-Slnvia and Roumania, there is every intention of upholding the settlement arrived at under the Treaty of Marseilles, and we hope the Germans and Magyars will come to see the necessity of accepting its provisions, and working with us for the restoration of Central Europe.”
