MORE SUN SPOTS.

“There is usually something -bowing on the sun, although the evidence may be but. faint, but since Friday last there lias been a period of unusual quiescence,” said Mr John p. Arthu, ALB.A.A., of Devouport, on Friday morning. He went on to say that there is now a change in Old Sol’s face, and to-day there is ti new group of spots. The largest of the group is some 15,000 ‘ miles across, and there are seven or eight smaller ones, the whole group having a length of approximately a twelfth part, about 75,000 miles of the sun’s diameter. Air Artlm points out that this solar activity is rather surprising in view of tho fact that next year marks the minimum period of activity.
