UNITED TO ASSIST.

A meeting of the heads of the various religious bodies was recently held in All Saints’ schoolroom, together with representatives of the Dorcas Soeietl. The Rev. W. 11. Walton outlined 'the objects of the meeting. It was felt, he said, that there was a need of co-operation u-niong.-U the various members in the work of helping the needy, and in being prepared for any case of urgent necessity that may arise. It was felt time by co-operation any danger of overlapping would be overcome, and cases of real need would lie less likely to lie overlooked. On the motion of the Rev. Father Forrestall, Mrs McMurray was appointed treasurer. The leaders of the various churches undertook to support the scheme heartily. Any necessitous cases of poverty or great need may be reported to the Minister of whatever church necessitous cases may belong, and without any publicity the case will be attended to.

It was explained that people who contributed to this fund 1 would have he assurance that the money will »e carefully administered.

It was decided that three representatives from each church should be appointed to meet the Rev. W. H. "Walton and organise a big concert, for the purpose of raising a sum of money as the nucleus of a fund. It was felt that this method would read) many who would not assist at retiring collections or colter means within the church, and that they ought to be given an opportunity to help. This committee will meet next week.

The churches were represented by the Rev. Father Forrestall, Revs. W. Halliday, Minifie, W. H. Walton, and Captain Tong, and the Dorcas Society by Mesdames F. Robinson and McMurray.
