ROYAL PICTURES.

At the Royal to-night the star attraction will be “Social Hypocrites.” Under the death of her father, who has been accused of cheating at cards, Leonora Fielding is cared for by Lady Mountstephen. Later Lady Mountstephen tires of Leonora, and refuses to pay her extravagant bills. Lord Royle, who has been attentive to her, pays the bills. She afterwards learns that he is married to Lady Norton. Leonora, desiring lo repay Lord Royle, determines lo win the necessary money at cards. Lady Norton having learned that her husband paid Leonora's bills, determines to be revenged, and after substituting duplicate marked cards, accuses Leonora of being a cheat. Leonora is ordered to leave. A friend, whose love she has not reciprocated, Dr. Sampson, comes to her rescue, and announces he is going to marry her. A handbag which Leonora picks up in error results in her establishing her innocence, and her father’s memory is cleared by the dying words of the Earl of St. Albans. As an extra a further episode of “The Invisible Hand” will be shown. But seldom does a picture arrive that is really beyond the use of superlatives in description of its attractive powers, but in “Alf’s Button” such a rara avis exists. Full of the humour that made “The Better ’Ole” sparkle, and without its pathos this companion) picture, that brings back to us All Iggilis, one. of the “three musketeers" of Bairust'ather, will be very hard to surpass. Its humour is infectious, ils story is a clever and original conception, being a kind of continuation of Alla din's Lamp, and its ■bracterisation.s such as are seldom seen either on screen or stage. Suffice it to say that of all the big features screened 1 on board the “Renown” on the recent tour of H.R.H. the Prince of Wales, this picture was easily the favourite of the Prince and his whole ship’s company. That, it will instantaneously become Ahe favourite picture of. the public of 1921 is a foregone conclusion. This picture will be st:reeued on Monday.
