MANGAMAHU MURDER
KINSELLA COMMITTED FOR
TRIAL,
Wanganui, Last Night
At the Magistrate’s Court to-day, John Kinsella was charged that on July 22nd, at Mangamahu. lie did murder George Ooruou. The colonial inquiry was proceeded with simultaneously.
Evidence was given by Cecil Addenbrooke, farmer, James Campbell, roadman, William Gibson, farmer, and others.
Senior-Sergeant T. Bourke said’ that the police proceeded to Mangamahu in response to a message they had got from Mr Addenbrooke. Kinsella informed them that Gordon lay on the floor, and asked him (Kinsella) to chop his head off. Accused added that he got a fright when he saw the blood fly. Accused further stated that Gordon had asked him to cut his throat, and that he (accused) had run the hack of Ihc knife across it. Gordon fell his throat, and said: “You have made a bad job of it.” On the way t<! Wanganui in the car, accused said) “Poor old George, he was mv pal, and I won’t be able to go to his funeral.” Witness considered that Kinsellu was drunk up to Hie time lie. was locked up. The Coroner found that deceased had been killed by accused, John Kinsella. Kinsella was committed for trial at the Wanganui Supreme Court on August 23rd.
